HOME UPDATE

 

EIindaba apologizes for so late a delivery of the information; however, the life dynamics was stronger than the abilities of the editor.

 

EFr. Zolile completed the series of workshops for the SCJ’s as well as the Sacred Heart Sisters’ pre and novices and left on the 8th September to Rome.

 

EFr. Ntaka took part in SACOP meeting in Durban from 2-7 September.

 

EProvincial Council met in Graaff-Reinet for a 2-day meeting as a preparation for Provincial Assembly and for the Council meeting. Many thanks to Fr. Ziggy for his great hospitality.

 

EFr. Paul came back from his holiday 16 of September, Welcome!

 

EOur SCJ candidates together with Fr. Peter and 30 members of Bethulie community completed Home Base Care Course presented by Sr. Cathy, John Michael and Eunice and were awarded with a diploma on the 23rd September. Congratulation!

 

EProvincial Assembly – 25-26 September

The Assembly dealt with:

-         Our life and work after Recife conference.

-         Dehonian Family what we know about it and what we need to know.

-         Sacred Heart Auto League – its present and its future.

 

EProvincial Council meeting took place in Aliwal on the 26 of September.

 

E27th September Fr. Ofi came back from Germany and was brought safely from Bloemfontein by Fr. Benno. Welcome!

 

E18-19th of October Fr. Ziggy was in Port Elizabeth for further medical examination.

 

E8th of September was the day of the 40th anniversary of the first vows of Fr. Anthony Austin. Congratulations!

 

E6th of October shocking news touched every SCJ- Br. Paul died in Merrivale.

 

EFuneral of Br. Paul was held in Aliwal North on the 13th of October. Fr. Provincial wants in this way to thank all those who contributed towards good organization of the funeral.

 

EIindaba would like to express a deep sympathy to our confreres who lately lost their relatives: Bp. Potocnak’s sister, Dk. Mabeka’s brother, Pre-nov. Joshua’s brother and Anele’s sister.

Provincial Council

Provincial Council met few times since last issue of Iindaba and dealt with:

 

PApplication for ordination to the priesthood and diaconate of Brs.: B. Sompane, I. Mutanyu and I. Mabeka.  It was decided that ordination to diaconate of Brs. Sompane and Mutanyu (if he will complete the 3rd year of theology, will take place on the 15th December in the Cathedral of Aliwal North.

 

PTransfers – final decision about transfers will be made in the beginning of December.

De Aar

_Sacred Heart Sodality of De Aar diocese met in Graaff-Reinet on 28-29 September for their annual feast with Bp. Potocnak and Fr. Paul - spiritual director of the sodality.

_Bp. Potocnak left for USA and will be back on the 25th October. One of the reasons for his visit is the recent death of his sister and 50th anniversary of his metric.

Aliwal North

_Fr. Provincial and Bp. Lobinger took part in the conclusion of the Community Week in Teresa Mission. For the 3rd year this celebration was connected with the SCC’s feast rather than with blessing of the leaders.

SCJs IN THE WORLD

? 3 members of our Congregation: Archbp. Oscar Scheid SCJ of Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, Archbp. Tome’ Makhweliha SCJ of Nampula – Mozambique and Fr. General V. Bressanelli as the delegate representing the Union of General Superiors attending the Synod of Bishops in Vatican.

? Fr. General V. Bressanelli completed 40 years of religious life on the 29th September. Congratulations!

 

? 11 of October 8 SCJ confreres from the Indonesian province were ordained to priesthood.
